Asia-Pacific Salsa Open Championships
With the strong participation of Pacific as well as Asia competitors, and taking
feedback from participants of this event, it is a pleasure to announce that Asia
Salsa Open Championships will now become the Asia-Pacific Salsa Open
Championships.(APSOC)
Dancers from around the world are invited to participate in this most friendly
but highly prestigious Competition event that highlights the amazing talents of
salsa competitors to the region.

Rules & Regulations
Categories
(A) Amateur – who has not received regular compensation for competition, instruction, or performance.
(B) Professional – who receives money for teaching, competing, or performing. This division is for the experienced competitor and the professional instructors/dancers.
(C)Team – Open. Maximum of 20 in a team.
Length of Dance – Max 3 mins
Music
Competitors need to provide two ready-to-be-played CDs. One track per CD.
The DJ will not slow down or speed up your music for you.
Judging Guidelines
All Categories will be judged with by the following criteria:
- Technical Merit – 40%
- Artistic Impression – 40%
- Audience Reaction -20%
Judging Composition
The technical merit grade has 3 key components:
a. Execution: The excellence / accuracy of styles
b. Synchronization: The aptitude to go one with the other and to shift with the music.
c. Difficulty: the difficulty and variety of the moves
The artistic impression has 3 key elements:
a) Choreography: The diversity and originality of the moves, appropriateness of outfits, the use of the stage space
b) Music Interpretation: The use of movement to elucidate the melody, its dynamic and rhythmic properties.
c) Manner of Presentation: The carriage with which the routine is performed, the aptitude to commune thru the choreography, and the apparent easiness of the presentations.
